Publications have formed a vital part of the Foundation's outreach and educational goals. Early on, these publications were designed to solicit support and publicity for the fledgling historic site.
Under James A. Bear, Jr. (Foundation Curator 1955-1985), publications began to take on a more scholarly focus. This new emphasis continued to develop under Daniel P. Jordan (Foundation President 1985-2008), and his successor, Leslie Greene Bowman (President 2008-2023).
